RE: RE: RE: ProtoSpecDefs

I tested with OmniPeek Pro 6.0.7, and I'm able to identify the WLCCP packet with ProtoSpecId 4713.

Can you please confirm whether this will work or will not in version 5? I'm using GET_PSID(instanceID) to get the protocol id.

Thanks for your help, Spacepacket!

RE: RE: ProtoSpecDefs

Thanks for the suggestion Spacepacket. But we have older versions currently. I observed that they display the WLCCP packets and are able to identify them. Is it done differently in these versions? Or can I try using PSpecID 4713 - with older OmniPeek?

ProtoSpecDefs

Hi,

I want to check whether a packet is of WLCCP type or not. I do not see a ProtoSpecDefs enum defined for the same. How can I do this easily?

Do I have to go through the packet contents and verify?

Thanks,

RE: RE: RE: Per capture options

Sorry for spamming again :)

Is it really necessary to send the XML to Peek? Is it required if I do not have any global options?

RE: RE: Per capture options

Hi,

Thanks for your input. I will try these.

Regarding the TCP/UDP question: If a user changes the option mid-way, is there any way that I can force OmniPeek to send me all the prior packets? Something like a Reset and do-over call?

Thanks,
Vasanth

RE: RE: RE: Per capture options

i.e. how to specify the options for the file windows? "If you allow the user to modify the plugin's settings while a capture is running" Say I have an option to specify TCP/UDP. My plug-in calculates the total no of packets in the capture (either TCP or UDP). Initially I keep TCP selected....

RE: RE: Per capture options

Hi, Thanks for your help and info. But I realized that I wasn't clear in my earlier post so this doesn't completely answer me. The plug-in I'm developing actually is being used as an offline-analysis module. We use OmniEngine to capture the packets and then try to analyse on OmniPeek later. So how d...

Per capture options

Hi, In plugin-primer you mentioned about per capture option setting using tabs. I'm curious to know how will this work? - Should I prompt the user to enter options when creating the context (onCreateContext) and return from this only when the options are entered? - Or can I have a tab where the user...

To see whether a packet is a 802.11 data packet, I would have to really call IsDescendentOfProc() right? Or does GET_PSID() itself have proper masks to determine the same?

eg. PING_REQ and PING_REPLY over wlan.

RE: RE: Memory footprint

That's great info you've given, Spacepacket. Thanks a lot. I will go through the links.

The data given above is without my Plug-in in the plug-ins directory. So is it expected for OmniPeek to consume more memory over-time as the tabs are opened and closed?

Memory footprint

I wanted to make sure that the plug-in I’m developing cleans up the resources correctly. In the code, I do not have many dynamic allocations and I believe that I’m cleaning up efficiently. But, getting some hard data will be even more convincing. I have some doubts regarding the same. - Are ther...

RE: RE: Unable to add a column to the packet list

OK, I got this to work by putting it inside Init() method of your C*Context class.

Looks like OP does not know about the pContext parameter that you are passing. Will leave it to someone from WildPackets to give a detailed explanation if needed :)

RE: Unable to add a column to the packet list

Well, looking at the API, it looks like you've set the defaultVisibility to "False". Did you try to right click on the column labels and see whether "My Column" is present or not?
