OmniPeek with Netgear WN511T

Postby Boaz » Thu Jul 24, 2008 5:43 am

Hi,

I am trying to sniff 11n packets using OmniPeek with Netgear WN511T.
I am using the Marvell driver form your site. (Marvell v3.0.18_1)

The problem is that I can not see any 11n traffic at all, all I can see is beacons. I have no filters.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Boaz

The only way to see 802.11n data is to be in an environment where there was another 802.11n client associated to an 802.11n access point and you were capturing on the same channel. Doing a channel scan may help you determine where the traffic exists.

There should be nothing special necessary with this card, but keep in mind that the driver is Marvell and is not produced by WildPackets. If you have a support contract, you may want to contact Tech Support, as they may have a broader knowledge of the issues you are experiencing:

You can also purchase a single instance support contract if you choose not to buy maintenance:

It is normal to lose network connectivity when using the card with OmniPeek. The card must be put in Monitor mode in order to capture traffic.

You cannot capture and associate with a wireless network at the same time with a single adapter.
