Wreless connection disabled when opening Omnipeek 4.1

Postby wmillwood » Wed Oct 08, 2008 12:52 pm

I have an Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AG adapter. The driver is Intel 12.0.0.82. When I try to reconnect after opening Omnipeek, a window pops up with this messag:

"ISV sniffer mode is enabled. Can not connect ot any profile. Disable ISV sniffer and try again later."

This is an onboard adapter on a Lenovo ThinkPad T61. Any help is much appreciated.

This is normal behavior if you attempt to use this wireless adapter as a capture adapter with OmniPeek. You should be able to capture from an ethernet interface on the laptop

This adapter, however, is not supported by OmniPeek, but the Intel drivers will show API=Yes in the Capture Adapter screen.

If you do not attempt to do a capture with the 4965 adapter, do you still lose network connectivity?

Only when the wireless adapter is set to be captured.

The ethernet captures fine.

OK, that is normal.

This adapter is not compatible with OmniPeek, so you won't be able to capture with it anyway. If you are able to, please let us know, because the 4965 has never worked here in house, only the Intel 3945 is supported.

When using a supported adapter:

http://www.wildpackets.com/support/downloads/drivers

The adapter is put into RF Monitor mode (Intel calls it ISV) and network connectivity is suspended. In order to capture wireless traffic and connect to a wireless network, you would need two wireless adapters in that laptop.

Hope this helps.
