Trying to decode CAPWAP packets

Postby aaron@cisco.com » Fri Mar 13, 2009 1:53 pm

I'm trying to decode some packets as CAPWAP in OmniPeek Enterprise.
Now, OmniPeek doesn't automagically decode the packets as CAPWAP,
presumably because it doesn't recognize the ports as being CAPWAP ports.
(The current CAPWAP draft specifies 5246 as being the control port and
5247 as being the data port, so OmniPeek should be taught to interpret
these ports as CAPWAP by default.)

So anyway, I'm looking at a CAPWAP packet (which Omni just sees as
raw UDP.) I click the ? button to bring up the Select Decoder window.
However, CAPWAP isn't there.

So, my questions:

1. How do I get CAPWAP to show up in the Select Decoder window?
2. How do I teach OmniPeek automatically to decode UDP ports 5246 and
5247 as CAPWAP?

Cheers,

Aaron
