I recently needed to find an IP address and only had a MAC address to go on. I found a really great (IMO) application. When you launch the application it scans the VLAN that you are connected to and reports all active IP addresses on that VLAN, along with the MAC address, host name and manufacturer.

Is there a plug-in or any way to do this with any WildPackets product? The program is only $99.00, but if I don't have to spend $99.00 I never do! I would be willing to build something if the tools to do so are available without having to be an expert at programming.

Thanks in advance.

You may want to submit this question to the Developers Forum. OmniPeek by nature is a passive capture software, and does not scan or otherwise probe the network.

You can use the Name Table to give descriptive names to MAC addresses and associated IPs.

You can also turn on the logical source and address columns in the packets view and this may help as well.
