How to capture 802.11 MAC layer packets..

Postby jinskv » Tue Oct 06, 2009 11:10 pm

Hi,
I want to see the wi-fi MAC layer info from the packets captured through omnipeek(I am new to network analysis tools). The detailed view of the captured packets shows only ethernet headers whereas the data acutually transmitted was through WLAN. I was using a DELL 610 Lattitude and Linksys router. Could anybody help..

Hi Jinskv,

You need a supported card and according drivers to capture 802.11 PHY layer information.

I'd recommend one of the supported Atheros cards, they deliver the best results.

See the wp drivers page for details
