omnipeek 6.0.7 Windows7 WUSB600N and wlan eap

Postby btodd » Mon Apr 05, 2010 9:42 am

Hi - I am capturing wlan packets using the WUSB adapter with the wildpackets driver.

What I can't seem to do is capture packets that show eap key exchange requests and acknowledgments.

I looked at filters and I see that under protocols I can select 802.1x.
Under generic Protoscpec there are several EAP types:
EAP Failure
EAP Request
etc.
There is no EAP Suite.

What is the easiest way to get these packets?

I am trying to verify that key exchanges occur as often as they should.

Thanks
Bob Todd

Hi, Bob-

Which version of EAP is being used? It is likely that the packets are there but are mis-identified because of the version. Which packets of the EAP Suite are you not seeing?

I am not seeing any eap packets at all...

I was capturing all packets associated with the mac addr of my wlan card. I was seeing tkip data and all sorts of other wireless packets but I did not see any packets identified as eap...

Worse still - my laptop just blue screened... I re-booted came back up and
omnipeek started OK but when I started a wireless capture (all packets with my mac address) - no packets at all showed up.

I re-booted again and now omnipeek won't start.

I get a windows error message saying the application won't start...
Event viewer shows Exception code 0xc0000005
faulting module is omnipeek 6.5.7.7

???

not sure what to do now..
