Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG support?
Posted: Sat Sep 18, 2010 12:58 pm
I am running Windows 7 and Omnipeek. When I goto New Capture and select 802.11 the "Select Channel By" options are all grayed out. Does this mean that Omnipeek does not support my Intel Pro 3945 wireless card?

The Intel 3945abg is the only Intel card supported by OmniPeek. Before the 802.11 options are available, you have to select it as the capture adapter, have you done that?
Is this a 64 bit operating system? OmniPeek does not support the 64 bit version of any intel adapter at the present time.

I am running 32 bit Windows 7. I went to "Monitor Options" and "Adapter" and selected "Wireless Network Connection" and under Device it says: "Intel(R) Pro/Wireless 3945ABG" next I go to 802.11 tab and all of the "Select Channel By" options are grayed out.
My driver version is 18.104.22.168. I did see this note on your site, which states it does not suppor twindows 7.. is this true?:
OmniPeek natively supports WLAN adapters that utilize the Centrino 3945 chipset for a/b/g wireless analysis. A custom driver is not needed for these adapters as the application will automatically recognize the adapter. Intel driver version 10.5.1.72 or higher is required. At the present time, the 3945 chipset is only supported on the Windows XP platform. Other Intel chipsets such as the 4965 and 5100 cannot be supported by OmniPeek until Intel adds ISV promiscuous mode to their feature set. It is incumbent upon Intel to make these changes, as OmniPeek already has the ability to recognize and work with chipsets that have this capability.
Any other idea what might be wrong?

Every Intel driver version has its issues, some work with OmniPeek, others do not. We would recommend purchasing the Linksys WUSB 600n USB adapter and use the Ralink driver. This works for all modern operating systems.
