Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN driver problems...

Postby freelancer91 » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:23 pm

ok, on my brother's laptop, I tried adding the injection capable drivers that are provided on this site for Windows. My brother's computer has Windows XP SP2 and is an HP Pavillon dv2000. Once I had installed the dirvers for a multiband network (I didn't see a b/g, only b or g) the connection stopped working, even after a reboot. Do I have the right drivers, and if so, how do I get the wireless connection up again?

He is using a Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN. I found a zip file named brcmDrv340rc100a.zip from this site. I tried installing the drivers just as the readme told me to. I didn't find a "b/g" so I used multiband. When I restarted, the WLAN wouldn't connect. After rolling back the drivers, it connected.

Please refer to the Readme that ships with that driver. It *cannot* be used for network services with the beta driver.

So what you're saying is that I am screwed. There is no way to set up that laptop with that wireless adapter so that it can monitor networks?

You are using an unsupported beta driver.

It *cannot* be used for network services.

The driver can *only* be used with AiroPeek or OmniPeek for capturing wireless traffic.

We recommend you purchase a supported wireless adapter.
