Trouble installing Marvell driver...

Postby rHBa » Sat Mar 15, 2008 10:45 am

Hi,

I just took delivery of a Buffalo WLI-CB-G300N and downloaded the Marvell driver from your drivers page.

When I select the driver in the 'install from disk' dialog and click OK I get an error telling me that 'The specified location does not contain information about your hardware'!

Is there any way I can fix this?

Cheers

Make sure you *do not* let Windows search for the driver. Put the folder containing the driver on your desktop and navigate to it manually.

That's what I'm doing. To summarise:

# Go to Control Panel -> Network Connections
# Right click appropriate wireless network connection (I'm definitely selecting the right one), click 'Properties'
# Click 'Configure', select Driver tab, click 'Update Driver'
# 'Can Windows connect to Windows update...?' - select 'No, not this time', click 'Next'
# Select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)', click Next
# Select 'Don't search, I will choose the driver I want to install', click Next
# Click 'Have Disk', browse to where I unzipped the driver, select 'NetWM14x.inf', click Open, click OK

Then I get a popup with 'The specified location does not contain information about your hardware'.

It sounds as if you are installing it correctly. Is your card a different model than we specify on the web site?

On our site: Buffalo WLI-CB-AG300N
Your adapter: " " G300N

There may be slight differences in the chipset. Keep in mind, we do not manufacture the Marvell driver, so you may want to check with them to see if there is any difference in the hardware between these two adapters.

Ahh...

Just spotted the 'A' before G300N... damn!

I'll get in touch with Marvel and see what they say.

If it is possible to get it working I'll post back here any let y'all know how.

Cheers anyway.
