Driver .inf files

Postby brenny » Tue Jun 10, 2008 1:54 pm

Hi,

I've just been analysing the 'rt2870.inf' file that comes as part of the Ralink USB Driver for OmniPeek from the drivers download page.

I thought we had a 'D-Link Xtreme N Duo USB Adapter DWA-160' in our inventory but unfortunately we haven't.

I see the 'Xtreme' is indeed supported in the '.inf' file

I've also noticed this:

Taken from rt2870.inf

D-Link_3C09.DeviceDesc = "D-Link DWA-140 RangeBooster N USB Adapter"
D-Link_3C11.DeviceDesc = "D-Link DWA-160 Xtreme N Dual Band USB Adapter"
D-Link_3C13.DeviceDesc = "D-Link DWA-130 Wireless N USB Adapter(rev.B)"

Now the 'D-Link DWA-140' can be had pretty cheaply over here and I was wondering if anybody could confirm that it will indeed work with OmniPeek.

I'm aware that it is a third party driver and is provided as a courtesy, Ralink believe it should be fine.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Brenny

Brenny-

We have not tested the 140 model, but if it uses the same chipset as the 160, we would expect it to work fine. Give it a try and let us know how you fare.

O.K.

I'll get hold of one in the next few days and report back.

Take care

Brenny
