Help with "Roaming Latency" plug-in.

Postby gmiller » Mon Sep 29, 2008 9:40 am

I downloaded the plug-in entitled "Roaming Latency". Everything installed and I can see the tabs in the capture window, but I cannot collect any roam data after I roam from one AP to another (many times). I confirmed the check box is checked under Options/Analysis Modules/Roaming Analysis. Am I missing a step?

PS - I'm using OmniPeek Enterprise 5.1

Thanks

Help With Roaming Plug-in

In order to detect roaming you need to aggregrate traffic from the 2 channels that the device is roaming between. This can be accomplished by using the Wireless Channel Aggregator Adapter Plug-in.

Thanks for the instruction. I was able to use three Omni Wireless Senors to collect a roaming sequence then merge the traces together and see the roaming data.

I have a followup question. While using the Omni Wireless Senors, I am unable to see ACKs. I am pinging and roaming. I see no ACKs for the ping request or ping reply, or the auth and assoc sequence. I am in good coverage and I even tried the test conducted. I have no filters on. Is there a setting I am missing that removes the ACKs?

Thanks again for the help with the roamin plug-in.

We recommend the Linksys WUSB600N wireless USB Adapter, and lots of them. Buy a couple of these at BestBuy for around $60 a piece, or cheaper on the internet, and download the Ralink driver from our web site.

Update: We have posted a newer version of the Ralink driver which fixes problems with not capturing ACK's.

Where is the new RALink driver? I just see the older one (from July).

The name is the same, but the driver is new.
