Omnipeek - Accuracy of time

Postby cmarodon » Tue Sep 20, 2016 5:15 pm

Hi. In my packet captures with 3 Proxim USB to monitor 3 channels.
I was surprised that the delta time between a Data packet at 54Mbps and the returning ACK at 24Mbps is often very short (0.000001 second = 1 microsecond).
At 24Mbps the tx time of an ACK should be 1 x SIFS (10 microsec) + the PHY header (OFDM 20 microsec) + the MAC header (8 microsec) = 44 microsec. Is there some buffering with Promiscuous mode, with an accuracy around millisec rather than microsec for the time of receiving??

The time resolution will usually be a factor of the Atheros driver and is not handled by Omnipeek.
