OmniWiFi Adapter

Postby wromantic » Thu Jul 18, 2013 6:19 am

We typically do wireless and wired 802.11 traces with OmniPeek. Does the OmniWiFi adapter have the ability to support a wired connection? In the past, I've used some Linksys adapters and modified the case so that I could use the internal Murata connector. If I can't make it wired, it's not much use to me.

The Omni WiFi adapter is USB wireless only. There are no physical modifications supported.

You can always perform wired captures on any internal wired NIC.

But an internal NIC won't allow me to connect to the RF port of my WiFi radio.

If you need to have WLAN connectivity while at the same time capturing WLAN traffic, then you would need two wireless adapters on your machine, one for networking and the other for capture.

We would encourage you to contact Tech Support so they can determine exactly what you are trying to accomplish.
