Multiple Capture Interfaces for Omnipeek

Postby voceraman » Thu Jan 10, 2008 5:02 pm

Is there any plan to be able to capture on all 3 (2.4 GHz) channels for protocol analysis on WiFi networks?

I know that AirPCAP allows 3 usb devices to capture all channels and put into Wireshark. I love Omnipeek and wish it had this functionality.

Any word if this is being planned?

RF Grabbers

Chris-

Although we do not support USB at present, you can use our RF Grabbers to capture on multiple wireless channels. Each one can be set for a specific channel and then you can have a separate capture in OmniPeek for each channel. Information on the RFG can be found on our website:

Multiple Capture Interfaces for Omnipeek

Postby BartinTN » Wed Jan 30, 2008 1:21 pm

I have this need for 10/100BaseT networks as well, specifically when using a network tap. Network taps result in two output lines (eastbound + westbound traffic). I can collect them separately with two different capture windows, but to be of use, or to filter, I need the traffic re-combined. To be perfectly clear, I would like to initiate one capture in OPeek and collect packets from two NIC cards at the same time, with the same filters, saving both to the same packet file, etc.

We do not have a timeline on when this may be available.

multiple captures and adapters

you can create multiple captures with multiple adapters in some versions of OmniPeek. If you need to see bi-directional traffic you may need to mirror or span the port you are capturing from. below is a link to the product comparison chart to help you figure out which product you will need to accomplish your requests.

You can also use the PeekPlayer Plugin to direct packets from multiple captures to a single destination capture in real-time, resulting in a multi-segment or multi-channel capture.
