Saving captures in pcap format

Postby R4 » Mon Jun 07, 2010 11:04 am

I want to save captures on omnipliance in pcap format rather than pkt format. How can I change this? I'm assuming it has to be done on omnipliance.

There is no mechanism for saving files in alternate formats on the Omnipliance at the present time, only .pkt files are supported. However, OmniPeek is able to open, process .pcap files without issue. So, you can save a file from the Omnipliance to your OmniPeek console and then save it as .pcap if you like.

Is there a converter available to convert pkt captures to pcap? We've done it before on a different project but that individual is no longer with us. I think he converted on omnipliance directly.

Is this Omnipliance Windows-based? We used to have a utility called ProConvert which was discontinued years ago. There has never been a file conversion utility for the Linux based Omnipliance units.

A little late, but Wireshark's editcap utility will do this.
